Savings

For the longest time my husband & I have been wanting to open up an savings account for our little man. We kept talking about it, and talking about but never got around to doing so. Finally last week my husband went to our bank and opened up Hunter's own savings account from the money he received from Christmas. We each agreed to put in $10 per paycheck. Can you imagine how much money this little boogers going to have by time he's 18?!? A lot!

"Oh my Word Mommy" Ha! :)

It's so cute when you sign your children up for there 1st/own account. He is now part of the Squirrels Club at our bank. He got a free tee-shirt along with it, he'll also receive special birthday gifts.
I wish so badly we opened his account up from the day he was born. Just think we could have had 1 years worth of money already sitting in his savings. I'm so glad though we decided to go along with this. We also put our spare change in his piggy bank, that's a good savings as well.
We've got it figured all out...
by time he reaches 18, he'll be able to spend his savings on mommy & daddy for a Free hunt trip out of state! Haha! Wouldn't that be nice of our children if they thought of us parents like that at age 18!!! Yea right! The only thing that's on there mind at that age is boys/girls & getting out of mommy & daddy's house. haha.
On a serious note, Wayne & I both agreed this money will go for his College fund (to wherever he chooses if he decides to go) or for a vehicle! I'm sure the cost of living will be much higher than today's living.
This savings will be all worth it at the end & I cannot wait to start building up his account with money.

Hope everyone has a great week/weekend!

The money will add up fast. However, you have to open an account for my grand-daughter that you going to have for me next year. HaHa

Great idea! We opened Q's account soon after he was born, and any money he gets as gifts go in it. Gotta start young these days!

That's great you did this! My advice, don't tell him it is there, that way he will try work hard and get a scholarship to college! Then you can use the money for something else, like a new truck!

That is so nice, We did the same for Cooper. They will appreciate it when they get older and it will help us parents out as well to know they have some of there own money in the bank.

That picture goes perfectly with this post. Too cute.

What a cutie and I think it's great you opened an account for him! We went and saw a financial adviser about all that after having kids and he said between the cost of schooling when they get to that age and interest and whatever else that we should be putting about $200 or $300 away a month!! Are you kidding me!?! Can we say "student loans"? :) Kids are expensive, but we do what you do...a little bit here and there. I think they will be happy to have any help when they are older! :)

Very smart! Good luck with the saving! A very good lesson to teach them while they're young so it will be like second nature when they get older! =)

Such a great thing to do for Hunter! We opened up one for Autumn when she was about a year old and put a big chunk of our tax refunds in it. We need to go get one for Aubrey too!
