Hunter's 1st Day of Kindergarten!!

Monday, August 19th my baby officially became a KINDERGARTEN!!! I can't believe I'meven saying this!!

The night before was when it really hit me. Hunter has been waiting
for this day all week. He was so excited the night before school
started, we packed up his book bag, laid out his school clothes, said
our prayers and off to sleep he went.

I got really emotional that night. I had a heart to heart conversation
with Hunter and while I was praying is when it just hit me!! The tears
fell, and Hunter was also sniffling tearing up a bit while hugging me
before I finished up the prayer.

I said to my precious baby boy, "Hunter, Mommy's gonna cry when I drop
you off for school."

He says, "Mommy it will be okay, you have to be tough." .... OH MY
WORD..... that made me even more sad to hear these sweet words come
out of a precious (almost) 5 year old.
Sigh.. My baby is growing up on me!!

Here is how Hunter's first day of Kindergarten went.
He woke up around 3:30 and came into our bed because he said he had a
bad dream (or was he really anxious to start school? hmm) ha., I woke
him up around 6 a.m, he did not want to get up, poor fella.

We got up, took some pictures then off we drove him to school.  we sat
in the car for about 15 minutes before going in bc we were a bit
early. Meanwhile as we waited we took some silly pictures of our
little family, Hunter was just tickled to go in and was in a goofy
mood. ha

He got ahold of my camera while waiting ha

We walked in after a while to his classroom and met Mrs. Miller at the
door. She was very nice and nervous herself.

(Doesn't look very happy ha)

Hunter did great! He walked in, found his cubbie, and then sat down.
They fed him his breakfast in the classroom. While we were waiting on
him get done with his breakfast, there was another little girl sitting
in front of him who was just as cute as she could be. She kept on
smiling at Hunter, and giggling. Daddy bends down in Hunter's ear and
tells him look buddy you already have a girlfriend. He smiles then
says to his Daddy, her cubbie is right next to mine too! ha.. Bitter
sweet moments!!

Once he completed his breakfast, the children had time to play with
blocks and just roam around the room for a little while, so he played
with 2 other girls. We saw that another bigger boy was crying as his
mom had left him, and just by seeing that about broke my heart and I
didn't want to leave my buddy!

But time was ticking and so we had to leave him. I hugged him and told
him we were leaving, he told his Daddy by and went back to playing as
if it didn't even bother him.
Such a big boy!! I asked for a kiss and he said no Mommy, ha, but as I
told him one last time I was leaving, he says wait Mommy and gave me a
huge hug and a kiss. It was so sweet, knowing that he was about to be
left for his first day of what will be his next 12 yrs of school and
wanting his Mommies loving made my heart melt!

We turned back one last time while walking out the door and waved to
him as he smiled and waved back, then off he went to playing with his
new girlfriends. ha.

They gave each kindergarten parent a Boo-Hoo breakfast in the library.
It was so sweet of them to remember us as we drop off our little ones.
The little baggy came with a note, some tissues and a Lipton sweet tea
so we could kick back, sip on some hot tea and reminisce about our
babies first day. Very thoughtful!

Wayne and I took the day off so we could be there to pick up Hunter
that evening.

As I waited at his after school daycare (which is our old church), I
watched him get off the bus with a huge smile. The first words that
came out of his mouth were, you said Darren and Melina would be on the
bus.. ha.

He'll be riding the bus the next morning with his two cousins, so he
didn't quit understand why they weren't on that evening bus.

His first day was a success. Few words were said, he said he met a few
friends and that was pretty much it.

The next few days went by and he did very well.

He's now adjusted to his new class and knows where to go to and from school.

I ate lunch with him this past Friday and boy was he tickled over
that!! He loved me being there for him and his teacher said he's been
very good this week.

He won the artistic skill of the day and was the best one in the
class! He was so proud and so were we!!

I can't believe my baby has officially became a kindergarten!! I know
that he'll do well in school, and pray God will keep him safe each and
every day!
